Résumé

Partie 1 : An intrinsic weakness of the AES and other translation-based ciphers

Présenté par Massimiliano (Max) SALA (Univ. Trento)

The AES and other similar ciphers fall within a class called "translation-based". The relation between the role of the mixing layer and of the S-boxes can hide a weakness in the cipher, which allows a partial linearization of the cipher. In this setting, several effective attacks can be mounted, as shown in the next talk by Dr. Anna Rimoldi.

Partie 2 : Distinguishers for the Advanced Encryption Standard

Présenté par Anna RIMOLDI (Univ. Trento)

We show how it is possible to distinguish several versions of the AES, including AES128, by suitable cipher representations. This is a joint work with I. Toli and M. Sala.
